The Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) is a prevention-focused planning visit for patients with Medicare Part B, provided by the internal medicine team at Fairhope Internal Medicine, PC.

An updated medical and family history, plus a review of all medications and supplements — including anything prescribed elsewhere.
Memory & cognition
A brief cognitive check to set a baseline and catch changes early.
Fall risk & mobility
Checks of strength, balance, and everyday safety to lower your risk of falls.
Depression screening
A short, standard screening for mood and well-being.
Your prevention plan
A written screening schedule for the years ahead, based on your age, history, and Medicare coverage.
Advance care planning
An optional conversation about your wishes for future care and the documents that record them.
Annual Wellness Visit vs. annual physical.

- Covered by Medicare Part B once every 12 months — no copay or deductible for the visit itself

If we also treat other problems during your wellness visit, that portion may be billed like a regular office visit. If you have questions about cost, just ask.
How to schedule your wellness visit.
Check your coverage
You qualify if you have had Medicare Part B for more than 12 months, and it has been at least 12 months since your last wellness visit. In your first year of Part B, ask about the one-time Welcome to Medicare visit instead.
